After a mistake on EnzoF1's side regarding the overseeding rule, we had to decide how we were going to solve our main site issues. We couldn't condone overseeding, because that would mean that other members weren't able to seed. And with the GB differences in place, that would've been a very bad thing. But punishing the members with high-end connections for seeding didn't really seem right either. We implemented some new rules, got a whole load of complaints from both sides (high-end connections vs low-end connections), so we had to decide which step we needed to take in order to keep everyone satisfied. Well, most of the community anyways....
So we will have a trial until the end of the year, to see how the site runs without GB differences in place. All current GB differences will be stored, so in case the trial fails, we can revert back to your current GB difference. You will be able to keep track of your own up- and download stats and of course your GB difference, but other members won't be able to see it anymore. You can download whatever you want, seed as much as want and you won't have the worry about a thing.
If the trial is succesful, we will introduce a new feature to stimulate torrent seeding. So for all those that like to seed or don't see a point in seeding, we have thought about you and how we can stimulate your interest. The trial will start this saturday (17 October) and will end december 31st. If it's a success, of which I have no doubt it will be, then Racing Underground will become completely GB difference free as of january 1st, 2010. For questions or remarks, feel free to reply in this thread.
Additional notes: Please do not post alternative suggestions, because we've already been through that. This is the decision we've made and we'll stick with it until the end of the trial. If you have questions or remarks on THIS system, then feel free to post them in this thread.
