The 10th episode is devoted to the hybrid system, the technical device that retrieves energy and then releases it. Thanks to the new regulations the manufacturers can now have 2 on-board systems per vehicle and the three major car producers Porsche, Audi and Toyota have all chosen different solutions.
Fred and his film crew went to Cologne to TMG, the Totoya competitions department, as the Japanese make has pioneered hybrid technology for private cars. In addition, Pierre Van Vliet analyses the Porsche and Audi systems.
The 11th episode is devoted to the private teams. In 2014 Rebellion Racing, the only private team in LM P1, will have two cars on the grid for the Le Mans 24 Hours. They will up against the might of Audi, Porsche and Toyota all of which have hybrid engines.
The Swiss team is counting on the reliability of an already tried and tested engine to take the fight to them. Should the big boys fall by the wayside Rebellion Racing could spring a surprise!
